Houston, We Have Landed Sideways on the Moon! AGAIN!

Writer's picture: Dr. CK BrayDr. CK Bray

In the last month, two different spacecraft have landed on the moon----sideways. Whoops! That was not a part of the plan.

As I read about these billion-dollar mishaps, I thought about all the times in my life when the unlikely happened. The older I get, the more I realize life has a way of tipping you over at times when you least expect it. No matter how much you plan, pack, prepare, and perform, you will face-first in a ditch. Space missions, much like our own life plans, hit snags.

While many will advise you to roll up your sleeves and figure things out, be resilient, don’t give up, and fight through it, sometimes it takes time to upend the tipped-over spacecraft. And it will take us a bit of time to work out how to right the ship. In a world that is moving and changing so fast, I have to remind people that personal changes and habit-building can be slow.

When you hit a rough patch, do the best with what you have, begin the small daily work of aiming at what you want, and get up and start going.

Just be grateful, you didn’t lose a billion or so dollars.
