To be In Over Your Head means to be or become involved in a situation in which you do not have the necessary skills, knowledge, money, or know-how to succeed. Sounds miserable, difficult, and like it would require a lot of work to overcome. Who wants that? Most people don't!
Who wants to be a beginner and to feel out of control in a situation and who wouldn't want to walk an easy road? (But I promise in most circumstances the easy road leads to mediocrity)
To be an expert, a top performer in your role, and to stretch yourself beyond what you think you can do, you need to jump In Over Your Head
The discomfort, and maybe even fear, that one feels when reading that last statement should be a big hint to you that I'm right! If your life has become routine and you are doing the same thing day after day and even your thinking is one big habit--- it's time to do something new and a bit scary.
Now I am not saying to go and do something drastic, I am just saying to choose some aspect of your life and jump in over your head. Volunteer for a project that is out of your comfort zone or find a course that will push your abilities to a new level. Take some risks, push your boundaries, and learn how to fail and how to succeed.
Abraham Maslow wrote, “Life is an ongoing process of choosing between safety (out of fear and need for defense) and risk (for the sake of progress and growth): Choose Progression and Growth every time.
Whatever scares you, go do it. I bet you will be surprised by what you are capable of, and at the very least, your life won't be boring!
Please evaluate your life and find one area you can jump in OVER YOUR HEAD! You just may thank me for it.
Let me know how it goes!
